Name
A toolbox for material development and safety of batteries
Description

Gas analysis is a valuable tool for developing new battery materials, for understanding chemical reaction during aging of battery cells and for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of emitted gases in safety abuses tests. Impact of different kind of abuse tests on gas composition for current battery materials are shown as well as relevance of exiting tests for new battery systems like All Solid State Batteries (ASSB) is discussed. In addition, calorimetric analysis during abuse tests provides insight into the heat distribution between emitted and remaining energy in batteries; enables effective countermeasures to prevent thermal propagation in battery modules. The presentation provides an overview of the current toolbox and recent results.
