Dr. Wolfgang Bernhart has been working in consulting for over 30 years. In 1993, he
earned his Ph.D. from the University of Karlsruhe's Institute of Production Science and
started his career in consulting as a Senior Project Manager.
From 1993-1996 he worked as Senior Project Manager for Diebold Deutschland GmbH
for the Automotive and Engineered Products industry, mainly on organizational topics.
1996 Dr. Bernhart went on to Arthur D. Little and became Associate Director, managing
their German Automotive activities as a Director between 2000 and 2002. After serving as
Key Account Director Daimler at COVISINT in Amsterdam, he managed the European
automotive activities at Arthur D. Little from 2003 to 2006.
He has been Senior Partner at Roland Berger GmbH since 2007. Within Roland Berger's
Automotive and Industrials platform he is Global Co-Head of the Advanced Technology
Center Automotive & Industrials, that supports automotive, industrial, and technology
clients globally to master the challenges and opportunities that new technologies bring to
their businesses and markets.
One of his core areas of expertise is the Lithium-Ion battery industry. In more than 120
projects he worked with OEMs and other battery customers, most of the global relevant
cell suppliers as well as new players in Europe and the US, material producers, refiners,
mining companies and LiB recyclers as well as public and private funds and lenders. His
work includes due diligences for both sell and buy side, market entry strategies, site
selection, policy analysis, vertical integration and raw material securitization strategies,
sourcing and pricing, manufacturing ramp-up and equipment cost reduction.
