Safety is and will be the main challenge for large-scaled Lithium batteries. The presentation will show components on module and system level which support a safe battery operation. In this content, heat-shielding barriers counteracting thermal propagation are described. We also will show 2- & 3-dimensional Flame Barrier Products consisting of ultra-stable polymeric materials. These products protect battery housings in case of a thermal runaway. Besides that, DIAvent, our reversible overpressure valve is described. Finally, an emergency cooling concept is presented, which help to improve battery system safety.
