Substantial Differences in Lithium-Ion Battery Types
Description
There are many battery chemistries that fall under the lithium-ion category, however, the safety (potential for thermal runaway), performance (energy density or power density-high C-rates), life, charge characteristics, temperature range, robustness & abuse tolerance can be considerably different.
There are many different lithium-ion chemistries; seven top ones are below:
LCO, NCA, NMC, LMO, LTO, LFP, LMFP.
These can be grouped as mixed oxide cells & phosphate cells. We will explore the pros and cons of each technology.
