State of the art Li-Ion battery recycling, established processes, and new approaches will be presented. Advantages and disadvantages of various processes will be discussed with a focus on the recovery rate, output fractions and their quality. In this context, the development of legal regulations and its impact on battery recycling is addressed. In addition the difficulties in the treatment of end-of-life batteries should also be pointed out.
